Hello beautiful people ♥

So, this is what you've all been waiting for - I'm going to announce the deviants who have won first, second and third place in the Winter contest that me and PORGEcreations have been holding over the past couple of months. The theme was "the best gift I've ever recieved..." and I was so happy to see the different ways in which people interpreted it - it was so interesting!

I want to say a massive thankyou to everyone who supported the contest - the entrants, those who featured it in their journal, who did polls about it etc... or even if you just casually stopped by and read what it was all about! Thankyou :)

Now for the big bit....

Third place ♥

"Life's Symbolism"

Life's Symbolism by puppyluv51015

What they say:

There is a lot of symbolism to this.
The watch parts inside the case symbolize the fact that life gives you the ability to think.
The rosary beads (the black beads) symbolize the fact that life gives you the ability to worship.
The watch case symbolizes the fact that life gives you the ability to change.
The butterfly symbolizes the fact that life gives you the ability to do as you please; that you may fly high, achieve great things, love and be loved.
And finally, the whole piece represents the fact that life gives you the ability to create, whether it's something from many things or something from nothing.
I believe that this is why this necklace symbolizes life (:

What I say:

I love this piece! It's gorgeous - and so is all the symbolism surrounding it. She used beads from her mother's old jewellery, which I think makes it particularly special. Any deviation which is so pretty, and represents sooooo many different aspects of the idea of gift giving and receiving definitely deserves a place in this competition :) congratulations!

What they win:

A loveheart ring fav.me/d2jg1a3 from citruscouture
A phone charm from PORGEcreations
A custom character phone charm like fav.me/d2v6833 from Cinnamonster
A week long feature from citruscouture

"Weihnachts Tea"

:thumb190580973:

What they say:

This one requires a bit of a description. I am trying to capture a memory here of a white Christmas. Living in Australia, in Queensland none-the-less, Christmas is in Summer and snow is never an option all-year-round! So here I am capturing a winter Christmas I spent with my sister when I was 18 in Hamburg. The very first time I had Weihnachts Tea (Christmas Tea). The tea part is important, because ever since I first had it, a gift from my sister that year, I have always felt like I could recreate the feeling of that Christmas, the snow, the chill in the air (even if it requires putting on the airconditioning, lol). So every year I bring it out, and while I may be the only one in my family to drink it, I love it so. What a wonderful gift it was.

What I say:

This photograph is gorgeous! I particularly like the way that it addresses the two different aspects of 'gift-giving' - the gift of a special memory, and also the fact that the tea was a gift in itself. Such a lovely idea! And a lovely memory, at that. I'm in England, so luckily I've experienced a few white Christmases, and they really are so beautiful! I really like the photo itself too, even without the description. The way that where the tea isn't in focus isn't just blurry but has a kind of swirl is very interesting, and even though it's simple, it's obvious that the lady has got talent! Well done :)

What they win:

A custom necklace from citruscouture
A loveheart ring from fav.me/d2jg1a3 citruscouture
A custom robot charm from PORGEcreations
A phone charm from PORGEcreations
A custom character phone charm like fav.me/d2v6833 from Cinnamonster

What they say:

This reminds me of the times I spent with my mom as a little girl putting on makeup. I loved those times with my mom and I came close to loosing her early last year that makes those memories all the more important to me. I hope to teach my daughter the same things and for her to know that she can be beautiful with or without makeup as long as she is happy! I'm going to make this mirror a part of that.

What I say:

I think this was one of the only entries I received that was actually a gift to someone else! And it also illustrates the idea that life is a gift, through the idea of passing down memories and how she plans to pass on the skills with make-up that her mum gave to her. I absolutely adore the mirror as well, it's so detailed! I'd love to hang it in my own house... the whole whimsical, fairytale, 'Alice in Wonderland' theme is captured beautifully, and I love the idea of using the keys. It's a beautiful piece - perfect to teach your little girl to do her make-up in, and something that will hopefully last a very long time! Congratulations :)

What they win:

A custom design of your choice from citruscouture
A loveheart ring fav.me/d2jg1a3 from citruscouture
A chocolate or donut bracelet from PORGEcreations
A custom robot charm from PORGEcreations
A custom character phone charm like fav.me/d2v6833 from Cinnamonster
A month-long feature from citruscouture
